Sudanese Business Partners Hall of Shame:
Companies to Divest From Immediately
Divest, at a minimum, from all shares of companies that are
profiting from their business dealings with the Sudanese government.
The central purpose of divestment is to strongly encourage these companies to
suspend all business and commercial activities in Khartoum until the genocide in
Darfur ends and the government creates security for the people of Darfur to
return to their homes. Check your mutual funds for these five major business
partners of the Sudanese government:
Siemens AG--Listed on the New York Stock Exchange, this German company is
building a power plant outside Khartoum.
Alcatel SA--The French company is upgrading a telecommunications system in
Sudan.
ABB Ltd--a Swiss-based engineering firm is upgrading greater Khartoum’s
electrical grid.
Sinopec--This Chinese company is a large player in Sudanese oil development.
PetroChina--The Sudanese government is using oil revenues to finance wide-scale
human rights abuses, and this Chinese company, traded on the NY Stock Exchange,
is a major player in developing Sudanese oil.
Your investments matters. Send the message to mutual fund companies, Wall
Street, and to Sudan business partners why you are pulling your money out. Click
